 PROJECT MANAGEMENT INTERN 

(12-month contract, full-time, Gross salary R7 100,00 per month).

The Chris Hani Institute (CHI) is a left wing think-thank established to engage in the battle of ideas, to develop alternatives to neo-liberalism, and to deepen the links between progressive intellectuals in our universities and inside the democratic movement. Our research, educational work and public engagement is predominantly from the Marxist and Leninist perspectives, i.e. working class (working and workless people), and from the losers rather than the winners of neoliberal global capitalist system.

The CHI is a non-profit organisation with offices in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. We are inviting applications for the PROJECT MANAGEMENT INTERN post.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree project management or related field
  • Working towards a Postgraduate certificate in project management would be an added advantage
  • Interested in SA liberation politics in its broader context
  • Working knowledge of the non-profit sector would be an advantage
  • Strong written and spoken English and preferably fluency in at least one African language
  • Good work ethic and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to a more equitable South Africa

Duties:

  • Project implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Assisting the Project Manager with HR processes
  • Preparation of quarterly reports under supervision of the Project Manager
  • Planning, management and administration of a research programme of the Institute reporting to the Project Manager

 INTERN – OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR 

(12-month contract, full-time, fixed-term; Gross salary R7 100,00 per month).

Requirements:

  • A recent graduate from a TVET college requiring first work experience in office administration
  • Strong communication skills, written and spoken English and fluency in at least one African language
  • Knowledge of computer practice and usage of the Internet (MS office, google, etc.)
  • Ability to work as a team with a good work ethic and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to a more equitable South Africa
  • Good planning and organising skills

Duties:

  • Assisting the Office Administrator in her day-to-day office management duties
